Ms Wong Chor Yee began painting using watercolour as her medium, under the mentorship of well-known watercolourist Ong Kim Seng.  She subsequently expanded her painting media to include oils and acrylics.  She had also obtained a certificate in sculpting from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts as a student of well-known sculptor Chern Lian Shan.

Chor Yee’s paintings display her characteristic style of capturing details and emotional connection with her subjects.  Her research into, and hands-on exploration with, modern day sculpting and modeling materials have also enabled her to achieve her own original style of enhancing 3-D texture effects in oil paintings to stimulate thoughts and emotions.

Chor Yee’s painting career actually began much later in her life.  As a student of Raffles Girls’ School, the subjects that were close to her heart were mathematics, physics and art.  She was awarded a Singapore Government Merit Scholarship for undergraduate studies in Mathematics and obtained her B.Sc. (Hons) degree in 1974 from the University of Singapore.  After her graduation, she served her scholarship bond in the Singapore Government Administrative Service and other public-sector organizations.  She was also awarded a staff development sponsorship in 1981 by the Institute of Education to pursue a M.B.A. degree in Management Science at the City University Business School in London.  During her nearly 30-year career in the public sector service, she had continued to pursue her passion in painting and sculpting on a part-time basis.  In January 2004, she gave up her post of Vice-President (Human Resources) at the Nanyang Technological University to pursue her passion to paint full-time.

She held her first solo exhibition in August 2004 and served as Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for a group exhibition by Ong Kim Seng and students in 2006.  She held her second solo exhibition in October 2010.  Chor Yee is a firm believer that all her art exhibitions should always have the component of fund-raising for a charitable cause.

Chor Yee is married to Professor KC Lun.   They have two children, Kenneth and Katherine.
